Draft Gore Petition Hits 200,000 Signatures      

Oct. 13 -- The Draft Gore petition has reached another big milestone, crossing the 200,000 mark.


Group Tries to Put Gore's Name on California Ballot


Oct. 3 -- California Draft Gore, a grassroots political action committee, are organizing a state-wide effort to put Al Gore's name on the state's primary ballot before the Dec. 4 deadline. For that they will need to get get signatures from 26,500 registered Democrats -- 500 from each of California's 53 congressional districts.




Draft Gore Surge: 7,000 Signatures in One Day

Sept. 27 -- Americans across the nation are rallying around a potential Al Gore candidacy by signing the Draft Gore petition in record numbers. Following a call to action from radio talk show host Randi Rhodes, more than 7,000 people signed the Draft Gore petition in less than a day.



Gore to Receive Sierra Club's HIghest Award

The Sierra Club is horning Al Gore's effort of more than 30 years of bringing world awareness to the dangers of global warming with the organizations' top award.

Gore #1 in in New Michigan Poll

Aug. 15 -- Al Gore would top the Democratic slate should he decide to run, according to a survey of likely Democratic primary voters in Michigan. When his name is included in the poll, Gore gets 36% support, compared to 32% for Hillary Clinton, 16% for Barack Obama, and 8% for John Edwards.

Gore: No Declared Candidate Making Climate a Priority

Aug. 8 -- During a trip to Singapore, Al Gore stated he may reenter politics "at some point in the future" and that none of the candidates running for president is focusing on the crucial issue of climate change.

Gore Leads All Democrats in New Hampshire Poll

June 27 -- A new poll in New Hampshire has Al Gore leading the Democratic field in the nation's first primary, with a six point lead over Hillary Clinton, 32 to 26. "Gore is the only Democrat, including Hillary, who can instantly melt the field," said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center."

Gore Beats Giuliani, Runs Better Than Any Declared Candidate in New Pennsylvania Poll

May 31 -- Al Gore runs far better than any of the declared Democrats against the Republican front runner in a new poll in Pennsylvania. Gore leads Giuliani 45 to 44% By comparison, Giuliani leads Hillary Clinton 47 - 43% and Barack Obama 45 - 40%. Gore also moved up rapidly in the primary race poll. He's now second to Clinton in the state.



Iowa Democrats Want Al Gore to Run

May 19 -- A poll published in the Des Moines Register indicates that contrary to what the mainstream media suggests, Democrats are not satisfied with the current field of candidates, and 44% of those polled want Al Gore to run. By contrast, only 23% would like Kerry to join the race, and 20% Wesley Clark.

May 18 -- The May 28 cover story in Time magazine describes Gore as "the improbably charismatic, Academy Award–winning, Nobel Prize–nominated environmental prophet with an army of followers and huge reserves of political and cultural capital at his command."

Gore Polls Strongly Against Guiliani

April 27 -- A new poll shows that Al Gore might be the Democrats' strongest candidate for 2008, outpolling Mayor Rudolph Giuliani in Florida. "Giuliani remains the front-runner, but he and the entire Democratic field should wonder if Al Gore will become an inconvenient truth in the 2008 presidential race and go for the biggest Oscar of them all," said Peter Brown of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

April 3 — A California Field Poll released today has Gore leading all declared Democratic candidates in favorability ratings. Moreover, Gore is now second in state polls nationwide for the Democratic nomination. And in California, he is closing in on Hillary Clinton, running only 6 points behind, even though he is not running or receiving much publicity compared to the declared candidates.

March 26 -- First came the Oscar, then the Nobel Prize nomination, and now Al Gore is being awarded the International Emmy by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

March 21 -- In an emotional return to Capitol Hill, Al Gore, warned members of Congress of a 'true planetary emergency' if they fail to act on global warming.



New Polls: Favorable Ratings Put Gore at the Top

March 14 -- A new poll conducted for CNN by Opinion Research Corporation on March 9-11 has Al Gore leading Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards in favorability ratings. Gore's rapidly rising favorable ratings have been confirmed in various recent polls.



The Economist Backs Gore

Feb. 26 -- The Economist magazine virtually endorsed Al Gore for president, saying: "Mr. Gore is the ideal candidate for the Democratic stalwarts who turn out to vote in the primaries. He came out strongly against invading Iraq. He has spent the past six years warning the world about global warming. And he was robbed of victory in 2000."

Feb. 25 -- "An Inconvenient Truth,” the story of Al Gore's passionate quest to warn the world about global warming, won an Academy Award for best documentary feature.

Al Gore Nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize

Al Gore has been nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his wide-reaching efforts to draw attention to the dangers of global warming. "A prerequisite for winning the Nobel Peace Prize is making a difference, and Al Gore has made a difference," said Norwegian Member of Parliament Boerge Brende. 



Jimmy Carter Endorses Gore

Feb. 23 -- In an ABC interview on "This Week," former President Jimmy Carter lavished praise on his favorite Democrat. "If Al should decide to run," he said, "I would support him."

Jan. 25 -- "If the Democrats were going to sit down and construct the perfect candidate for 2008, they'd be hard-pressed to improve on Gore." 



Pollster: Gore Won 2000, Cheated by Media Call

Sept. 28 – A pollster argues in his new book that Al Gore won the 2000 presidential election, but premature calls by the media for George Bush took Gore's victory away. Moore was fired by the Gallup Poll for writing the book. He argues that the networks too quickly put Florida in Bush's column, thus influencing the ultimate outcome. Bush’s cousin was on the FOX team that called the election for Bush.

Aug. 4 -- Speaking at a rally in Tennessee, former president Bill Clinton praised Al Gore. "If it hadn't been for Al Gore, a lot of those things wouldn't have happened." 



Gore Leads Among Netroots by Astounding Margins

A straw poll of 13,000 people by AlterNet has Al Gore blowing away all potential candidates for 2008 -- 35% to Hillary Clinton's 7%. In a DailyKos poll of 13,000 people, Gore led all contenders by 68%, with runner up Russ Feingold at 15%. And on Democrats.com, Gore again has a huge lead at 38%.
